This is not an everyday piece of jewelry unless care is taken to keep the pendant clean. Sweat and body oils can cause dirt to accumulate in the grooves of the engraving making the image difficult to see. Rubbing the pendant at this point will rub off the engraving because of the grit on the surface. Please use a jewelry cleaner or alcohol to loosen the dirt before wiping. Also, wearing the pendant with other jewelry will cause abrasion which will damage the engraving and make it difficult to see.
Please email us at info@dogtagcity.com and attach your .jpeg or .bmp image along with your name and order number. The higher the resolution on your photo the better the pendant will look. If you scan a photo please use the highest resolution settings on your scanner, it does make a difference. Please do not resize your photo because resolution is sometimes lost if not done properly. We can work with any size photo and reduce it down to the size we need. Photos that are tall will fill more of the pendant than photos that are wide and that makes for a more attractive pendant. For very wide photos we may have to engrave the photo sideways to get it to fit the pendant properly.
Also photos were the subject stands out from the background come out better than those that blend in. For example, it is difficult to capture the outline of a person with dark hair standing in front of a dark wall.
Photo quality is very important. If your full size photo is grainy, blurry, full of glare, etc. than the pendant will be even more so because it is so small. However, if your image is very sharp you will be amazed at the detail our engraver can capture. Please let us know if you have any questions or requests regarding your image.
